The power selection of LED high bay lights mainly depends on the type of lamp being replaced, the installation height, the required illuminance, and the luminous efficacy of the LED lamp.
Installation Height:
This is the primary factor determining power.
8-10 meters: For standard factories and assembly areas, 120W-150W is recommended.
11-13 meters: For high-bay warehouses and logistics centers, 150W-200W is recommended.
Over 14 meters: For extra-large spaces, a 200W-240W LED highbay light is recommended, and the addition of a focusing lens should be considered.
Illuminance Requirements:
Determined according to international building standard.
Ordinary passageways/warehouse areas: ≥200 lux
Machinery/assembly workshops: ≥300 lux
Precision electronics/testing areas: ≥500 lux
High-efficiency LEDs (≥140lm/W) can achieve higher illuminance with lower power.
Luminous efficacy and light distribution:
Prioritize LED industrial and mining lamps with a luminous efficacy ≥140lm/W, and select the light distribution angle according to the scene (wide beam for large-area uniform lighting, narrow beam for high shelves or local lighting), avoiding the misconception that “the higher the power, the better,” and preventing over-illumination and glare.
