Depending on the height of the warehouse building, lighting fixtures can generally be installed in three types: low-ceiling, medium-ceiling, and high-ceiling. Low ceilings are typically less than 5 meters high; medium ceilings are typically installed at 5-10 meters; and high ceilings are typically installed at over 10 meters, requiring lighting fixtures with a power of 200W or higher. Today, Eurolight will analyse the lighting solution for factories and warehouse lighting projects in Nigeria.

What we need pay attention when select warehouse lighting
1. Meeting the Requirements of Nighttime Operations
Many visual operations, especially those conducted indoors, require artificial lighting even during the day. However, the lighting effect cannot fully match natural light. Insufficient lighting levels and inadequate visual characteristics can lead to increased operational errors or reduced speed. Even with higher illuminance lighting to ensure good visual characteristics, the requirements remain.
Regarding the visual effect of lighting, lamp placement should be based on appropriate lighting standards and the actual site requirements through reasonable lighting calculations to ensure a certain level of illumination and reduce the decline in work efficiency caused by insufficient lighting. In relatively dim environments, a light source with a certain color rendering index should be provided to improve effective luminous efficacy.
2. Meeting Brightness Requirements While Providing Visual Comfort
The impact of warehouse ceilings and walls on lighting effects is related to room size. In small rooms, the ceiling occupies a small proportion of the field of vision and has a small impact on illuminance, while the walls occupy a large proportion of the field of vision and have a large impact on illuminance. Therefore, small rooms can use high-reflectivity walls and low-reflectivity ceilings. Conversely, large rooms should use high-reflectivity ceilings and low-reflectivity walls. Through effective lighting arrangement, a moderate and uniform illuminance can be achieved. The lighting requirements are bright and clear, without glare or ghosting.
3. Meeting the requirements of energy conservation, emission reduction, low carbon emissions, and environmental protection
As is well known, energy consumption is mainly concentrated in the industrial sector. Traditional lighting fixtures suffer from drawbacks such as low luminous efficacy, insufficient illuminance, poor safety, high energy consumption, low color rendering index, inability to start when voltage is unstable, frequent replacement, heavy workload, and high thermal efficiency.
What LED lights can be for warehouse lighting
1. Lighting for Medium-High Ceilings: Industrial plants with large machinery typically have high ceilings, generally using high-efficiency LED high bay lights with high luminous flux. Considering ceiling height and design illuminance, appropriate light distribution luminaires need to be selected. For medium-height ceilings (5-10m), medium-beam and wide-beam light distribution luminaires are recommended, offering wide illumination angles, uniform illuminance, and no glare or flicker. (The factory area uses 250W high-pressure mercury lamps.)
Lighting Configuration Recommendation: Replace high-pressure mercury lamps with high-power LED high bay lights.
2. Lighting for Low Ceilings: Industrial plants with low ceilings mostly house smaller production lines and assembly lines. High-efficiency LED fluorescent tubes with grid or surface waterproof LED luminaires are recommended. (The factory area uses explosion-proof fluorescent tube lamp covers with two grid panels.)
For installation heights of 2-4m, straight-tube LED light sources are a better choice. Warm white light sources create a comfortable environment and feature natural color rendering, high luminous efficiency, and long lifespan.
Lighting configuration recommendations: Replace traditional fluorescent tubes with LED fluorescent tubes. Existing lamp holders and lamp panels (explosion-proof lamp covers) can continue to be used.
